The Capuchine is a graceful bird with exceptional qualities. It is known especially for its head crest and its unique hood.
This pigeon is of medium size and its body is desirably carried horizontally.
Its head is well rounded and broad enough at the back to be fit for a broad hood.
Eye and Cere:
The eye’s iris is pearl white and rather sprightly. The ceres are red to flesh colored and are of fine texture.
The beak is medium in length, possesses fine wattles, and slightly curves at the tip. For every color of Capuchine it is flesh colored.
Back and NecK:
The Capuchine’s neck is of medium length and it narrows to smoothly blend into the shoulders and breast. The back is broad and gradually tapers off towards the rump.
The wings are not overly long and are nicely carried up.
This pigeon’s breast is broad, full, and is lifted just in front of the beak’s tip.
The tail is narrow and well closed and short compared to the proportioned length of the body.
The legs are bright red and medium in length with featherless shanks and toes.
The Capuchine’s hood is broad, upright, and fully feathered down the mane. It has no breaks and blends with the chain right below the rosette.
The collar, or chain, runs in an unbroken line from the hood to the shoulders. Elliptical shaped rosettes are present on either side of the neck.
The monks come in black, red, yellow, blue with black bars, silver with dark dun bars, mealies with red bars, cream with yellow bars, and white self. The tigers come in black, red, yellow, and blue.
