It is a descendant of the Rock Pigeon. This breed is said to have originated in northern France and southern Belgium. Noticeably from the name, the Red Carneau is from Carneau, France.</p> <p><strong>Breed</strong></p> <p>The Carneau is a utility pigeon known for being raised for squab. It is not so different in looks from the Rock Pigeon.</p> <p>Body<br />This pigeon islarge in size and weighs about 30 to 37 ounces. Its height is approximately 13 inches. Its body is slender and proportional, with tight feathers and pinkish white skin.</p> <p><strong>Head</strong><br />The Carneau’s broad head rounds from the wattle to above the eye, and then gradually slopes down to the nape of the neck. It has a prominent frontal and a nicely developed back skull.</p> <p><strong>Beak</strong><br />The beak is short, stout, and of medium length.</p> <p><strong>Eye and Cere</strong><br />The eyes are prominent, round, and bright. The colors vary the bird’s color. The cere is round and finely textured, and should be bright red in color.</p> <p><strong>Back and Neck</strong><br />The neck is of medium length and it should be strong, thick, and well-proportioned to the body and head. The back should be broad across the shoulders and wedge shaped from the shoulder to the tail.</p> <p><strong>Breast</strong><br />It should be prominent and broad and of good symmetrical proportion. It also should be slightly behind the point of the beak.</p> <p><strong>Wings</strong><br />The wings should be strong and held closely to the body.
